Manipulating data in Microsoft Excel
Graph
Using graphs the user can spot anonymous results in the spreadsheet that need fixing, in a graph, these results will show an impartial section on the graph, which makes the results uneven and incorrect.
Sorting Data
By sorting the data Excel will organise it by date, ascending, descending, etc. This may unveil any mistakes the user has made.
Subtotals
By using subtotals the user can work out individual totals, in this case, the income for each author, then work out the grand total.
Transpose
The transpose tool swaps the titles of the data, example, in my spreadsheet, the data is mostly date at the top, and title on the left, but when I transpose it the date is on the left, and the titles at the top.
Formatting data
Formatting the data organises it into its specific data type, example, cells with numbers that should be in currency format can by given currency format.
Filtering
The filtering tool organises the data and allows the user to select which specific part of the information they want on the screen. The drop-down lists allow the user to select which to view which makes it easier to work with.
